Kia ora, Friends,
As you know, many of our great kauri trees are dying.
You may wonder, is there really no cure?
And, do we really understand the causes?

Because we feel called to explore this urgent situation, together with caring people, we propose a seven-day Northland hikoi that brings together environmentalists, tangata whenua, arborists, Tree Council folk, energy healers, musicians and ‘tree people’ to visit — at safe distance — significant kauri sites north of Auckland, March 17-23
Our kaupapa/intention is to be present and listen deeply at the edges of the forests — listening to the kauri, and to each other — to hear the wisdom of these trees, offer karakia and ceremony, and broaden our understanding of this crisis/opportunity. We will share our impressions in creative ways and consider our contribution to possible remedies.
A kauri in Waiomu, Coromandel, recently gave this message: “We are not dying; humanity’s vision is dying.”
What is the vision that needs revival in our hearts?
Kawai Purapura Retreat in Albany will anchor the beginning and end of our journey. See http://kawaipurapura.co.nz/ voices-sacred-earth-festival-2018/
A core group will travel via mini-bus the entire seven days and share accommodation. Others may carpool and join us on any or all of the seven days.
Costs will be kept low by sharing meals and travel expenses, with budget accommodation options.
Koha will be offered to wisdom carriers who interact with us.
Below you will find the itinerary and costs. We welcome your suggestions, and participation.
If you wish to be part of the core group for the entire seven days, contact us before March 1 so that we can confirm rental vehicles and accommodation,
and secure a deposit.
